Benjamin Kipps is a clarinetist and graduate of the Hayes School of Music. Originally from Raleigh, NC he currently serves as the Principal Clarinetist of the Appalachian Wind Ensemble and Principal Clarinetist of the Appalachian Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to being a student at the Hayes School of Music, Kipps has played with orchestras and wind ensembles across Tennessee and North Carolina. His previous positions include Principal Clarinetist of the Triangle Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in Raleigh, NC; Principal Clarinetist of the Southern Adventist Symphony Orchestra in Collegedale, TN; and Assistant Clarinetist for the East Tennessee Symphony Orchestra in Collegedale, TN.
After completing a degree in music performance, Kipps plans to continue his education and pursue graduate degrees in clarinet performance and philosophy where he hopes to explore the intersection of classical music and death as a liminal space.
